“My career started at the bottom, as my first photographs were created underwater back in 1988” says Douglas. Douglas earned a Master of Photography Degree, received more than 40 international awards, been featured in museums, published in books & magazines as he came up from the bottom. Douglas’ goals are to create portraits that evoke emotional response and let the viewer see not only the beauty but also our responsibility to protect our world’s natural resources rather than deplete them. “I am very fortunate to make my career as this kind of photographer and I have a special passion for whales.” He currently divides his time between leading diving groups around the world, teaching private landscape photography workshops in Maui, and participating in Art Fairs with the Lahaina Art Society.
