Sea turtles are an unpredictable discovery while snorkeling on the Maui beaches. I love to observe the herbivores basking the shores and eating algae amongst the reef corals. The Honu, or sea turtle, are believed to be an 'aumakua or ancestral spirit offering lifelong protection, wisdom, and guidance. One of my kids' favorite places to watch turtles rest is along the beaches of Pa'ia.
